Fleet Street meets Eat Street
When Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett were at their pie-making, neck-shaving height, Fleet Street was a place to be avoided at all costs. Dirty, crowded, the last place that people who wanted to see and be seen would head for dinner. But that street has changed in the last hundred years or so! Now, London’s Fleet Street is more like Eat Street with hipster restaurants selling avocado toast, poke bowls, and the teeniest waffles you’ve ever seen. If Mrs. Lovett opened her mysterious pie shop now, she may need to give the traditional English dish a modern twist. How about “the worst empanadas in London”? Or maybe something a little more deconstructed? Still, we bet the crowds now would dig her shop’s shabby chic vibe and the owner’s no-nonsense manner. And how cool that you can get a straight-razor shave right upstairs!
Details Design
This Plus-Size Mrs. Lovett costume features a blouse with a solid base layer and a black lace overlay. Ruffles accent the hem along the elbows and shoulders as well as the neckline, with a contrasting red and black material. Buttoning down the front, this blouse layers underneath a corset that zips up the side. The skirt is a weathered paisley pattern and has layers of ruffles down the back, giving you plenty of Victorian flair! Complete with a pair of fingerless gloves, this costume will have you ready to start up your Fleet Street pie shop in no time!
